This past weekend <fidget> space held their Fourth Annual Fall Experimental Music Festival which included “Bring the Noise: Afrofuturism x Russolo” an evening of discussion and performances around the intersection of afrofuturism and music. Curated by the legendary King Britt featuring an all star line-up of participants including, Hank Shocklee, HPrizm, Computer Jay, Ytasha Womack and Marlo Reynolds, the evening was an incredible success.
Opening with a panel discussion hosted by <fidget>’s Peter Price and followed up with a series of performances that ranged from 8-bit improvisations to rapping super computers, the night exemplified the power of myth in the contemporary context. I think it’s safe to say that myself and everyone involved walked away inspired by what the future holds for this Afropresence.
Here’s a short video from the event.
